CHRIST IN US, OUR HOPE OF GLORY

Carnival Glory

This past week, we went to Halifax, Nova Scotia on the Carnival Glory cruise ship to uplift Christ in us, our hope of Glory for our God is a Brown Girl Too retreat.

God is a Brown Girl Too is a testament that we are more than the physical; we are also the shipSpirit.  Paul realized this when he said to the people of Colossae ” Christ in you, the hope of glory” (Colossians 1:27 NIV).  Jesus Christ says this differently in John 10:34 when he says “Is it not written in your Law, ‘I have said you are gods’?'”

God is a Brown Girl Too, a book where God speaks to black women as themselves, says “when you know that I am you and you are me, you will begin to realize who God is.”

Oneness betterChrist in me is glory; Christ in me is power; Christ in me is commitment; Christ in me is love; Gathering for Morning Prayer Aboard the Ship Christ in me is energy that defies the appearances of limitations.

Last week, while we were embraced by the bosom of the ocean and lifted by the infinity of the sky, we remembered to breathe the sacred breath of oneness.  We celebrated God expressing as us.  We reinforced the truth that Spirit lives in us.

???????????????????????????????

As our Master Teacher Jesus Christ taught us in John 14:20, one day “you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you.”I AM

Christ in me is transformation.  Christ in me is illumination.  Christ in me is demonstration.  Christ in me is co-creation.  Christ in me is determination.  Christ in me is celebration.  Christ in me is restoration of all my good returning swiftly to reward me.

On the Carnival Glory, we visited the Kingdom of God, united in the consciousness that God is everywhereSabrina and Kia present.

We stop closing the doors to the divine and re-opened the absolute good that is everywhere present.

We stopped worrying about we shall eat and what we shall where and we sought God first, fullyIn the womb of discourse internalizing what Jesus taught in Luke 17:21, when he says “nor will people say, ‘Here it is,’ or ‘There it is,’ because the kingdom of God is within you.”

The kingdom of God is within us.Walking in the Spirit Lia and Pam

We were not wary or apprehensive of Carnival’s recent press because we blessed every crack and crevice aboard the ship.

We blessed the crew and the captain and every passenger who ever boardedRev Loving leading the session and will board the ship.

We blessed the entire ocean and realized that our sacred circle was comprised of universes greater than we who we are in the flesh.

PatienceWe meditated in the Christ in us.  We prayed in the Christ in us.  We blessed the sacred waters as they restored our strength, our light, our love, and our vision.

We were baptized in the holy communion of fellowship in Christ Consciousness.

I have no theology, I dance Pam and PamWe left our sins at the altar of deliverance.

As Paul said in Romans 7:4-6, we “died to the law through the body of Christ, that [w]e might belong to another, to him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit for God.  For when we were in the realm of the flesh, I am a Woman of High Faiththe sinful passions aroused by the law were at work in us, so that we bore fruit for death.  But now, by dying to what once bound us, we have been released from the law so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit.”

We pray as oneWe released the sin of fear, the sin of remorse, the sin of lust, the sin of doubt, the sin of despair, the sin of hopelessness, the sin of ignorance – and we put on our Christ selves.

We re-connected with who we are and remembered why we are here in the first place.

As Paul teaches in Romans 8:9, we are not controlled by theWe gather Sabrina et al sin but by the Spirit because the Spirit of God lives in us.

Rev Loving listening to Spirit

Namaste, Reverend Loving

ON WHOSE SHOULDERS DO YOU STAND?

Neddy, a childhood friend, caught up with me through Facebook.  Even though I could not remember her presence, I felt her loving spirit.  We laughed like old friends for hours about the memories that we shared about our life in the Jefferies Housing Project in Detroit — forty years ago.  Friendship is good that way, and lasting.  It made me remember the hope that carried us through the appearance of lack.  Back then, we didn’t need as much in the external to know inside that God was always lifting us up the rough side of the mountain.  Spirit was always calling us to demonstrate Absolute Good.  All we had to do was stand on the shoulders of God and peer out over the freeway at the vibrant colors of golden rays turning indigo skies magical colors in the Detroit sky — just glowing with the rising sun of a new day.

We could see past appearances and feel the dawning of divine ideas and dreams awakening so well back then — that it makes me wonder what ever happened to hope.  Have all the trappings of good times and the parties of plenty made it even more difficult to trust that we are not controlled by appearances — good or bad?  Some will tell you that the stock market has plunged; 401(k) pension plans have diminished;  old jobs have been lost and new jobs are hard to find; merchandise isn’t moving; and the real estate market is in a slump.  But those are the appearances of things.  The Psalmist asks, “if the Lord is the Strength of my life, of whom [and what] shall I be afraid?” (Psalm 27)

There is nothing to fear when we realize that God gives us all of the Strength that we need.  When we stand in the Spirit, we stand on the shoulders of the universe, realizing that our spiritual roots reach down to the belly of the earth but do not stop there.  We realize that the earth, like the rest of the universe, girds us with a strength and a power that never loses its connection.  We “stand on our own two feet.”  We “stand up for ourselves.”  We “stand up for what we believe in.”  We “stand our ground” with purpose, power and vision.

We see this in the story of David and Goliath.  Goliath represents physical strength and prowess.  Goliath is what we see in the flesh — the circumstances that appear so much greater than us.  In the physical realm, if we judge by appearances, we believe that we cannot overcome what is bigger than us.  But when we dig deep, we find the spiritual strength that gives us the ability to fight the good fight.

Strength is really a conscious decision to be One with Absolute Good — no matter what the outer circumstances are, the present is where Absolute Good is.  Our helmets and armor and javelins and swords are how we stand in consciousness.

It is important that David, a boy, came forward.  We have to contrast David — the small and seemingly insignificant aspects of our own lives  — with the Goliath of lack, the Goliath of loss, the Goliath of fear — and use the power of the “little” that we have.   David was saying, I don’t have a spear and I don’t have a helmet.   I don’t  even have a shield.  But I’ve got my raggedly shepherd’s cloth.  I’ve got my staff.  I’ve got my slingshot — that I have fashioned from a tree branch.  I have the earth under my feet — and all that the earth is made of.  But most importantly I stand on the strength of God — a love that is invincible, a power that never leaves me, a protector that can never be defeated.

William Stafford says, “I have woven a parachute out of everything broken.”  Patrick Overton says:  “When you come to the edge of all the light that you have, and must take a step into the darkness of the unknown, believe that one of two things will happen to you: either there will be something solid for you to stand on, or you will be taught how to fly.”  The Bible says put on the whole armor of God.  Stand on victory.  Stand on faith.  Stand on power.  Stand on strength.

As the Philistine moved closer to attack him, David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet him.  Without hesitation, David ran to face his adversary head on!  He didn’t have to be as big or as tall as Goliath because he stood on the shoulders of God.  Reaching into his bag for one of the stones that he had gathered, David took it out and struck the Philistine on the forehead.  The stone sank into Goliath’s forehead, and Goliath fell facedown on the ground.  The fear, the doubt, the lack, the limitation were defeated in a single shot — by a kid and a slingshot.

Metaphysically, we can say that David — spiritual strength — struck the center of those blockages on our path that seem so insurmountable.  The biblical witness is firm that Goliath was struck in the center of his head — that part of our body connected to the pineal gland where the third eye of spiritual discernment gives us vision beyond flesh.  It is easy to think of David and Goliath as separate beings, but in our Oneness, we know that we are all parts of a whole.  If there is anything that needs conquering in our consciousness, we have the ability to conquer it — to stop standing in our own way and defeat the monsters of our own making.

The story of David and Goliath reminds us that we stand on something greater than what is in this world — a power that is greater than religion.  As One, we are greater than our differences.  We are greater than a name or a group that defines itself as Christian or Muslim or Hindu or Buddhist or Jew.  When we see with Spirit, we know that we stand on the power of Spirit.  Spirit is not locked in a steeple or a bell or pew or a pulpit.  Spirit is infinite, inexhaustible source and endless potential.  Spirit is divine ideas and unceasing love.  Spirit is always blessing us — despite the way things appear in the external.

Spirit gives us the strength to ask the universe for whatever it is that we desire.  We just have to be strong enough to trust that there is nothing that God cannot do through us.  Nothing is too big for God to bless us with.  Nothing is too big for God to remove.  Nothing is powerful enough to block us from the attainment of our good.  All we have to do is stand on the shoulders of the omnipotence of God.  When we do, we can look above the row houses and the high rises and the by-ways and the bridges — and see that there is a vast expanse of Kingdom that awaits our gifts and talents.  There is a Universe calling us past the battleground of our fears to re-connect with its inexhaustible supply.

A MIRACLE OF FAITH

At church last Sunday, we were blessed with a powerful testimony of faith.

After leaving the God is a Brown Girl Too® Retreat, a number of participants stopped by a gas station on their way through Manhattan.  Between the excitement of saying good-byes, giving directions and jumping back into cars, someone lost their wallet.  She didn’t realize it until she got back into her car and was approaching Brooklyn.

Unfortunately, by the time her attention turned to the wallet, she had been maneuvering through traffic on I-95 and the last time she had seen the wallet was when she laid it on the hood of her convertible.

A car hood is a vulnerable place to have a wallet sitting on any moving vehicle — not to mention on top of one in fast-moving traffic on a NYC highway.  The steps that one would have to retrace to locate it would be impossible to recreate.  Here, the various scenarios of it flying off into oblivion would be too numerous to imagine, especially because the last point of contact — the gas station — was miles away in the distance.   But after such an extraordinary women’s retreat, only faith filled the hearts of the passengers concerned about the missing wallet.

Charged with faith, one of the passengers called the gas station.  One counseled the driver to have faith that the wallet would manifest.  Another passenger used her faith to pray for a favorable outcome.  And after she was ministered to, the driver decided not to worry about her wallet.  With faith, she continued driving to Brooklyn and left the matter in the hands of the universe.

When she faithfully got out of the car to drop off her first passenger, she witnessed what she called a “miracle.”  Her wallet was still sitting where she had put it — not in a fold or a crease — but right on her hood!  It was as though divine order had converged the centrifugal force of space and time and gravity to suspend the wallet in its right place — so that it was not thrown or tossed, but simply rode atop the car — with all of its contents intact.

Faith is not a power to be taken lightly.

Faith pushes us out of the realm of appearances and posits us in the reality of unlimited good.  Faith pulls us away from the consciousness where we simply ask God — and connects with the super-consciousness where our good has already manifested.  Faith catapults us beyond asking to believing that whatever we ask for, we receive.  Faith blesses us with a patience beyond human comprehension — to know that our good is here.

Faith is one of the 12 powers we are studying.  Although the foundation for our study is a book that Charles Fillmore wrote in 1930, entitled The Twelve Powers of Man (Unity Books), we are now able to expand our interpretation of the 12 powers within according to the teachings of our more ancient ancestors  — who developed a basis for spiritual power centers thousands of years before Fillmore was born.

The pineal gland — located in the brain behind the eyes — is said to be the physical entry of spiritual enlightenment, and through that illumination, it is also known as the gateway to faith.  It is the home of higher consciousness, healing power, and psychic perception.  In her book, Opening to Spirit, Caroline Shola Arewa, an expert on African teachings on the healing power of the   chakras, says that melatonin is excreted by the pineal gland, which encourages receptivity to the creative consciousness of Spirit.  Melatonin levels, Arewa says, are at their highest between the hours of 4 A.M. and 6 A.M., producing the best consciousness to create, meditate, and be more open and receptive to Spirit.

Our Faith Power is associated with deep indigo blue energy, which is said to be the color associated with the deep blue of midnight — an energy that radiates outward and encompasses all things with compassion and connection to all life.  It is in the evening, through dreams that Jacob receives spiritual messages.

The Bible says, in that place called “Peniel” (or Pineal), he “sees God face-to-face” — and his life is spared.  He is reborn in a new consciousness.  In the Spirit, one could say that his Pineal gland was opened.  The Bible says that the sun rose above him as he passed Peniel.  He saw with new light.  When we tap into and turn on the power associated with our Pineal Gland, our Faith organ, we see God face-to-face.

Peter represents Faith in the Bible.  He sometimes faltered, but he was also more steadfast than the other disciples.  He was the only one who actually tried to walk the water.

Whenever Jesus heals an affliction, he tells the person healed that it was their Faith that made them whole.  Through Faith, we know that God goes before us to make easy, joyous and successful our way — regardless of the appearances.  Through Faith, we can trust — like our sister who recovered her wallet on the top of her hood — that even what seems to have been lost will be restored.  Through Faith, we know that we are blessed and thus realize our blessings.

WE ALL HAVE EQUAL ACCESS TO GOD

I am grateful for the number of people who have supported the upcoming God is a Brown Girl Too Retreat.  Regardless of race, religion or ethnicity — people of all cultures, ages and sexes have given their support for an organization that dispenses with the notion that God is an old man in the sky and embraces the truth that we all have the Kingdom of God within us.   With the retreat less than ten days away, the commitment from family and friends to honor the fact that we are all made in God’s image and likeness is not something that I take lightly.  In this season of holidays and barbeques, it is sometimes easier to just put our feet up and do nothing rather than make a concerted effort to center in the Spirit within.

But when we want to make a difference in our lives and the lives of others, we have to take advantage of the gift that we all have — to choose.   We can choose to transform our consciousness, choose to move beyond where we are now, choose to move to where we want to be.  It is through divine choice that this country was able to pursue life, liberty and happiness.  It is through divine choice that we have all been called to rise up and live out the true meaning of the creed that we are all created equal.  We all have equal access to God.

Regardless of what we are doing, or where we choose to go ,or do, or be, we can tap into the Spirit that lives in us, that is — as Jesus said — our counselor, teacher, and  guide.  Regardless of what the appearances are in the physical, we all have the same ability to slow down long enough to hear the divine vibrations that are centered in each one of us — as the temple of a living God.  Regardless of whether you are attending the God is a Brown Girl Too Retreat or not — find the space to re-connect with your divine self this summer.

Some of my best meditations are walking along Smith Street in Carroll Gardens, or feeling the breeze on the Brooklyn Bridge.  It was on the subway that it occurred to me that the truth that our so-called Founding Fathers had — is equally available to each one of us — to be pioneers of something wonderful, in mind, body or spirit.  In fact, I don’t believe they had any idea of the magnitude of what they were memorializing in 1776; it was much bigger than who they were in the physical.  The Spirit that led them surpassed  their time-space reality, their own boundaries of socio-political-economic dynamics.  But because they were obedient to their calling, we all benefit from their Declaration of Independence today.

god-will-see-you-through-thirteenWe are only a fragment of what God expresses through us.  In 1942, Mahatma Gandhi said “I am a Christian, and a Hindu and a Muslim, and a Jew.”  I have moved beyond the superficiality of race and religion and class to fulfill God’s divine appointment as an expression of love for all humanity.

god-will-see-you-through-elevenTake a moment in the celebration of sunshine and warmth and plant the seeds of a new story.  The harvest of autumn will arrive before you know it, so center in the consciousness that will restore and recharge you, so that you can move forward re-energized and renewed — ready to reap God’s good as you.

We will be praying without ceasing next week — July 16 through 18 — during our retreat at the Mariandale Retreat Center.  Make a divine choice to meditate with us, move with us, sing with us, shout with us, dance with us, create with us, heal with us.   But most importantly, listen with us.  God is always speaking — everywhere — at once.  And we all have equal access to God’s voice.

PRAYER FOR DEITRA KELSEY – OCTOBER 2009

great 7

We speak the Spiritmuv Affirmations out loud — at least three times during one daily sitting of prayer and meditation, so that we may align our consciousness with the realization that the Kingdom of God is within, and that we live and move — not separately — but within the divine love of all that God is.
Use this reflection as a catalyst to affirm the goodness that is pouring, streaming, flowing into your life.

I shall not steal.
I will not steal.
I cannot steal.
I cannot take from others, nor can they take from me.
There is no separation between the love of God and all that I AM.

The Kingdom of God is always expressing through me,
always surrounding me,
always anointing me,
always uplifting me.

Nothing can destroy the Good that is always blessing me.
What appears to be taken is only restored.

I speak truth to power today.
I affirm the right words and am blessed with the right energy to uplift, heal, protect, and prosper.

I bless Deidre K. today.

I see her surrounded by the love and grace of God.
She is anointed with success and endless, unlimited prosperity.
All that she needs, in the form of words, energy, conviction, faith, manifestation, divine ideas, and strength gird her up today.
She speaks truth to power and is blessed with good
that surpasses her greatest expectations.
She is guided by the love and wisdom and discernment of the Holy Spirit.
nothing and no one interferes with all that she is.
This week, she steps into her greatness,
and she never, ever looks back.

No one can take the Love that is always protecting her.
No one can take the power
that is her God-given favor.
No one can take the Spirit that expresses as her soul.

All of our prayers are answered before she even asks.
Her dreams are accomplished.
Her goals are fulfilled.
Her needs are met.

PRAYER FOR EDEN – October 2009

ownership 8

I AM One with Divine Source.
I AM One with Infinite Supply.
Nothing and no one interferes with my good — not even me.
I refuse to cheat myself from receiving the inexhaustible prosperity
that Spirit blesses me with.
I refuse to cheat myself from all the love of the Kingdom of God within.
I refuse to cheat myself from not listening to and doing what God calls me to do.

Eden is blessed today.  He is lifted in the consciousness of all that Spirit is.
He is anointed with new wisdom and new favor and begins to unfold the greatness of God in all that he does.
He puts on a new self today, resurrected and reborn in the Love and Wisdom and Peace and Protection of God.
There is nothing that he does not accomplish, nothing that he does not attract, nothing that he does not co-create through the unlimited energy of the divine blessings that keep blessing him and his family and all of the people that he loves and who loves him.
He wears the power of his name and becomes a media sensation of all good, all power, all love, all wisdom, all success, all victory.
Money, fame and fortune anoint him with a life that he cannot even begin to imagine.
Each and every time his name — the name of universal love and peace —  is spoken, his blessings will multiply.

This week, we are blessed in speaking his name and affirming the greatness that he is.
Our blessings, our favor, our power, our desires also manifest.
And we too manifest the joy of everlasting success!

REST WHILE YOUR GOOD MANIFESTS, by Cecilia Loving

7 - Copy (2)One of my favorite scriptures is from the Book of Job, when he was at his lowest, but he still had faith. In the New King James Version, Chapter 23, Verse 14, it says, “For He performs what is appointed for me, and many such things are with Him.” Job is saying, I may not see the process. I may not see behind the scenes, but God is building, growing, shaping, forming, creating, and completing what God appoints me to do. So, after I have done all — every single thing that I can do, I rest. I let go, and I let God.

The Fourth Commandment says, “Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your manservant or maidservant, nor your animals, nor the alien within your gates. For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore, the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.” Genesis teaches that God created the universe in six cycles of activity and on the seventh day, God rested.

Moses, who we know was a heightened spiritual individual, is teaching in the Fourth Commandment that we — made in the image and likeness of God, should also rest in our cycle ofGod is a Brown Girl Too 2010 Retreat 250 activity.

In every activity that we do, whether it be weight-lifting, writing, sculpting, teaching, managing, lawyering, or singing, there must be resting periods, when we cease all outer activity and trust God to do the requisite work, to facilitate the necessary connections, to make the divine appointments, to open the closed doors, to find the desired partner, to manifest the right resources, to tie the loose ends, to make a way out of no way — to do what we could never do for ourselves.

Georgiana Tree West gives a beautiful analogy of the need to surrender to Spirit in her book, Prosperity’s Ten Commandments. She says that when a farmer selects the seed, that’s like us deciding what we want. When a farmer prepares the ground for planting, that’s like us praying and acknowledging the one Source from which all of our good comes. Planting the seed is when we accept our desires. We plant in the soil of the mind; we plant in the soil of the heart; we plant in the soil of our soul — the divine idea that is to be made manifest. Tending the weeds is when we pour our faith upon our goals; when we prune and shape and water the soil through denials and affirmations; when we join together with like-minded people to center in Spirit; when we journal about it; when we meditate on it.

cropped-dusk-skyBut after the farmer has selected the seed, prepared the ground, planted the seed and tended the garden, he has to wait. He can’t send roots down into the soil. He can’t create upward shoots of green. He can’t put leaves on the stalks. He can’t put blossoms on the flowers. He has to let go and know that Spirit is working through natural law in cooperation with the seed that is planted to reveal the good that is constantly creating itself in the universal ethers. He has to do his part by surrendering.

When we learn to be true to ourselves and do what we were called to do, we will find that our needs are beautifully met — without struggle. Whether we are dealing with a week cycle; a year cycle; a 40-day accomplishment cycle; or a life cycle, we must balance all that we do with rest — and in that consciousness of rest, surrender to Spirit. In Spirit, we can surrender to the Love in which we live and move and have our being. We can surrender to Infinite Source, trusting that the Universe is always blessing us, always anointing us, always prospering us, always protecting us. We can surrender to Divine Mind, knowing that even in the unseen — all of our good is taking shape.

We can surrender to the invisible ethers that are attracting the right people, the right circumstances, and the right situations that will manifest our greatest dreams. We can surrender to the flow of inexhaustible supply and the energy of endless possibilities. We can surrender to the joy of letting go and letting God. In this consciousness of surrender, we can trust that Spirit is doing its work without us.

I do all that I can do; and then, I let go, and allow Spirit to bless me through the manifestation of my good.
